Kaziranga Elephant
WT·AS·0090
₹2,100
- Material & craftsmanship
- Carved by hand in solid wood with chisels, gouges and a hammer: the ridged ears laid back, the trunk hanging down and curling forward at the tip, the four legs set apart. It is rubbed smooth with abrasive paper, then coloured, darker where the carving goes deep than on the broad surfaces, and sealed with a brushed coat through which the grain still shows.

The object
The lines in the ears are cut, not moulded: run a fingernail along one and the colour sits darker at the bottom of the groove.

Care
- Keep it out of strong direct sun and away from a heater: both dry the wood quickly, which can open fine checks along the grain, and sun fades the coat.
- Dust it with a soft, dry cotton or microfibre cloth.
- No water, no damp cloth and no chemical cleaner, and keep it away from damp.
