Privacy policy

Last updated: 14 October 2026.

1. About this Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how Wildtera Solutions Private Limited ("Wildtera", "we", "us" or "our"), a company incorporated under the Companies Act, 2013 (CIN U22209WB2025PTC281291), collects, uses, shares, stores and protects your personal data when you visit www.wildtera.com or www.wildtera.in, create an account, place an order, contact us, or interact with our social media pages and customer support channels (together, the "Services").

Wildtera curates and sells handcrafted, handloom and sustainable products made by artisans of North East India. Wildtera is the seller of every product offered on the Services and is the "Data Fiduciary" responsible for your personal data.

This Policy is published in accordance with the Information Technology Act, 2000 and the Information Technology (Reasonable Security Practices and Procedures and Sensitive Personal Data or Information) Rules, 2011; the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 and the rules made under it, as and when they come into force; and the Consumer Protection (E-Commerce) Rules, 2020.

By using the Services or providing your personal data to us, you confirm that you have read and understood this Policy. Where we rely on your consent, we ask for it clearly and separately, and you may withdraw it at any time (see section 9). If this Policy conflicts with our Terms of Service on the handling of personal data, this Policy prevails.

This Policy applies to customers and visitors of the Services. Personal data of our artisan and seller partners is governed by our agreements with them.

2. Personal Data We Collect

"Personal data" means any data about you by which you can be identified. We collect only what we need for the purposes set out in section 4:

  • Contact and delivery details: your name, email address, phone number (including your WhatsApp number), and billing and shipping addresses.
  • Account details: your login credentials, preferences, wishlist and settings. Passwords are stored in encrypted form by our platform provider and are not visible to us.
  • Order details: products you view, add to your cart or purchase, your order history, and records of dispatch, delivery, claims, replacements and refunds.
  • Payment details: the payment method used, transaction reference, amount and payment status. We do not collect or store your card number, CVV, UPI PIN or net-banking password. These are entered directly on the secure pages of our RBI-authorised payment partners. For refunds of Cash on Delivery orders, we collect the bank account or UPI details you choose to share with us, only to process that refund.
  • Tax details: your GSTIN and business name, if you ask for a GST invoice.
  • Communications and claim evidence: messages, emails and calls with our support team, and the unboxing videos and photographs you send us when you report a damaged, defective, incomplete or incorrect order.
  • Reviews and content: product reviews, ratings, photographs and other content you choose to post on the Services.
  • Device and usage data: your IP address, device and browser type, approximate location derived from your IP address, pages viewed, links clicked and the referring website, collected through cookies and similar technologies (see section 7).

Please do not send us your Aadhaar number, health information, passwords or full card details through email, WhatsApp or any other support channel. We do not need them to serve you.

3. How We Collect Personal Data

  • Directly from you: when you create an account, place an order, subscribe to updates, write a review, or contact us by email, phone or WhatsApp.
  • Automatically: from your device when you browse the Services, through cookies and similar technologies.
  • From our service providers: for example, payment status from our payment partners and delivery status from our logistics partners.
  • From social media platforms: when you interact with our pages or advertisements, or sign in using a social login, to the extent your settings on that platform allow.

4. Why We Use Your Personal Data

We use your personal data for the following purposes:

  • To fulfil your order: to confirm your order, coordinate the making and packing of your piece with the artisan, arrange shipping through our logistics partners, and send you order, dispatch and delivery updates by email, SMS or WhatsApp.
  • To process payments, refunds and invoices, including GST invoices.
  • To provide customer support, including handling claims under our Returns, Refund & Replacement Policy and verifying unboxing videos and photographs.
  • To create and manage your account.
  • To keep the Services secure: to authenticate users and to detect, prevent and investigate fraud, misuse and unlawful activity.
  • To comply with law: including obligations under tax, company and consumer protection laws, and lawful requests from courts and government authorities.
  • To improve the Services: to understand how the Services are used, mostly in aggregated form, so that we can improve our products, website and service.
  • Marketing, only with your consent: to send you news of new collections, offers and stories from our artisans by email, SMS or WhatsApp. You can withdraw this consent at any time; we will continue to send you messages about your orders and account.
  • Advertising: to show you relevant advertisements on other websites and social media, based on your visits to the Services. You can opt out of this at any time (see section 7).

Lawful grounds

We process your personal data (a) for the specified purpose for which you have voluntarily provided it, such as placing an order or raising a claim; (b) to comply with our legal obligations; and (c) with your consent, for marketing messages, and, where the law requires it, for personalised advertising and non-essential cookies. We will not use your personal data for a purpose materially different from those described here without informing you and, where the law requires, obtaining your consent.

We do not sell your personal data.

5. Who We Share Your Personal Data With

We share personal data only to the extent necessary for the purposes in section 4, and only with parties who are bound to protect it:

  • Platform and hosting: Shopify, which hosts our online store (see section 6).
  • Payment partners: RBI-authorised payment aggregators and gateways that process your payments and refunds.
  • Logistics partners: our shipping aggregator (Shiprocket) and its courier partners, who receive your name, delivery address and phone number to deliver your parcel and handle reverse pickups.
  • Communication providers: email, SMS and WhatsApp Business service providers used to send you order updates and, with your consent, marketing messages.
  • Analytics and advertising partners, such as Meta, Google and Microsoft, to understand how the Services are used and to show you relevant advertisements (see section 7). You can opt out of data sharing for personalised advertising here.
  • Professional advisers: our chartered accountants, auditors and legal advisers, under duties of confidentiality.
  • Government and law enforcement: where required by law, a court order, or a lawful request from a competent authority, including tax authorities and consumer commissions.
  • Business transfers: a buyer or successor in the event of a merger, acquisition or sale of all or part of our business, who will be required to continue to protect your personal data in line with this Policy.

6. Our Relationship with Shopify

Our online store is hosted on Shopify, which processes your personal data on our behalf to provide and secure the platform. Shopify may also process certain data about your interactions with our store, together with data from other merchants, for its own purposes such as fraud prevention and improving its services. For that processing Shopify is independently responsible. You can read the Shopify Consumer Privacy Policy and exercise your rights for that processing through the Shopify Privacy Portal.

7. Cookies and Similar Technologies

Cookies are small files placed on your device when you visit a website. We use:

  • Essential cookies, which make the cart, checkout, login and security features work. The Services cannot function properly without them.
  • Analytics and marketing cookies, which help us understand how the Services are used and show you relevant advertisements. Where the law of your region requires your consent for them, we ask for it through our cookie banner before they are set.

Microsoft Clarity. We use Microsoft Clarity to see how the Services are used — which pages are opened, where people click and how far they scroll — so that we can make them easier to use. Anything typed into a form is hidden before it leaves your browser and is never recorded. Clarity sets two cookies of its own (_clck and _clsk), and Microsoft may set its own (CLID and MUID). Microsoft collects and uses this data, including for Microsoft Advertising, as described in the Microsoft Privacy Statement.

You can opt out of data sharing for personalised advertising at any time on our Your privacy choices page, change your choices through the cookie banner where it is shown, and block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Blocking essential cookies may prevent you from placing an order.

8. Where Your Data Is Stored

Some of our service providers, including Shopify, store and process data on servers located outside India. We transfer personal data outside India only to countries not restricted by the Central Government under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, and only to providers who are contractually required to protect it to a standard no lower than Indian law requires.

9. Your Rights

Subject to applicable Indian law, you have the right to:

  • Access: obtain a summary of the personal data we hold about you, the processing we carry out, and the categories of parties with whom it has been shared.
  • Correction and updating: have inaccurate or incomplete personal data corrected, completed or updated.
  • Erasure: ask us to erase personal data that is no longer necessary for the purpose for which it was collected, except where we must keep it by law (see section 11).
  • Withdraw consent: withdraw any consent you have given, as easily as you gave it. Withdrawal does not affect processing carried out before it, and some features, such as marketing updates, will no longer be available to you.
  • Grievance redressal: have your complaints about our handling of your personal data addressed by our Grievance Officer (section 16).
  • Nominate: nominate another individual to exercise these rights on your behalf in the event of your death or incapacity.

To exercise any of these rights, write to our Grievance Officer at the contact details in section 16. You can also update most account details yourself after signing in, unsubscribe from marketing emails using the link in each email, and opt out of WhatsApp or SMS marketing by replying STOP. We may need to verify your identity before acting on a request. We will respond within one month of receiving it.

10. Your Responsibilities

  • Provide personal data that is accurate and your own, and do not impersonate any other person.
  • Keep your account credentials confidential. You are responsible for activity under your account, so please tell us immediately if you suspect unauthorised use.
  • If you give us another person's details, for example a gift recipient's name, address and phone number, you confirm that you are authorised to do so and that the person is aware we will use those details to deliver the order.
  • Do not file a false or frivolous complaint or request. Indian law places these duties on every user, and breach of them can attract penalties.

11. How Long We Keep Your Data

We keep personal data only for as long as it is needed for the purpose for which it was collected, or for as long as the law requires:

  • Orders, invoices and payment records: for the period required under the Central Goods and Services Tax Act, 2017 and the Companies Act, 2013, currently up to eight years from the end of the relevant financial year.
  • Account data: for as long as your account is active. If you ask us to delete your account, or if it remains inactive for three years, we will delete or anonymise your account data, giving you at least 48 hours' notice before deletion for inactivity, except for data we must keep by law.
  • Claim evidence (unboxing videos and photographs): until the claim is closed and for up to two years afterwards, the period within which a consumer complaint may be filed, after which it is deleted unless needed for a pending dispute.
  • Marketing preferences: until you withdraw your consent.
  • Security and access logs: for at least one year, as required by applicable law.

12. How We Protect Your Data

We follow reasonable security practices and procedures as required under Indian law. These include encryption of data in transit (HTTPS), payment processing only through PCI-DSS compliant partners, access to personal data restricted to authorised personnel on a need-to-know basis, and confidentiality obligations on our staff, artisan partners and service providers.

No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. If a personal data breach occurs, we will inform affected users and the relevant authorities, including the Data Protection Board of India and CERT-In, as required by law.

13. Children

The Services are intended for persons aged 18 years or older. Under Indian law, a person below 18 years of age is a child. We do not knowingly collect personal data of children. A parent or lawful guardian may place an order in their own name for use by a child. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact our Grievance Officer and we will delete it.

14. Third-Party Websites and Social Media

The Services may contain links to third-party websites and social media platforms. We do not control them and are not responsible for their privacy practices, so please read their privacy policies before sharing information with them. Information you post publicly, such as a review or a comment on our social media pages, may be seen by others.

15. Changes to this Policy

We may update this Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or in the law. We will post the revised Policy on this page and update the "Last updated" date. If we make a material change, we will notify you by email or through a prominent notice on the Services and, where the law requires, ask for your consent again.
